HanziCoverage is a free, independent set of Chinese reading-analysis tools published by Urban Algorithm LLC. By using the site you agree to these plain terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

The tools are free and provided as-is

Every tool on this site is free to use, with no account, no signup, and no payment. The tools are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We work to keep them accurate and available, but we do not guarantee they will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for a particular purpose.

Coverage results are estimates, not guarantees

The coverage percentages, HSK-level reads, difficulty bands, and word lists the tools produce are estimates based on automatic word segmentation and public frequency and vocabulary data. Automatic segmentation is imperfect, and recognizing words is not the same as understanding a text. Use the results as planning guidance, not as a certified score, an official HSK result, or a promise about your reading ability.

We are independent

HanziCoverage is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or administered by HSK, Hanban, Chinese Testing International, or any government agency. We describe the HSK schemes for reference and educational purposes only. We do not administer any exam and do not certify anyone.

Acceptable use

Please use the site for lawful, personal, and educational purposes. Do not attempt to disrupt the site, misuse it to harm others, or scrape it in a way that degrades service for other visitors. The site's original text, design, and code are the property of Urban Algorithm LLC; the underlying open datasets remain under their own licenses, which are attributed on-site.

Third-party links

The site links to third-party resources, including the Wordbrush app on Apple's App Store. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of third-party sites and services. Our relationship with Wordbrush is disclosed on the recommended app page.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Urban Algorithm LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or reliance on its estimates. Your use of the site is at your own discretion and risk.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms and will move the effective date above when we do. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
